Khoa-finnis!

Yay, so I got the Koha assignment done last night after a somewhat rough beginning attempt on Sunday. All I have to say is thank god I happened to read someone else's blog entry regarding the Koha assignment or I probably never would have been pointed in the direction of the instructional video that Dr. Tomer had made on the lis2600 site. I was a bit annoyed because when the Koha log-in information was sent out, I never received anything. The matter was rectified in a couple of days but appearently when you received your log-in information, you received information about the assignment.

Although the assignment completion did not go smooth from start to finish, I did get it done though. I was going to have my topic be on travel books I had in my apartment but they were not in the LCC so I ended up doing colonialism. I realize it's a dry and not very fun topic but I have a huge interest in it, specifically colonialism in the late 19th to 20th century period in Africa and Southeast Asia. My only problem was with the control number identifier section. Sometimes I would enter the random numbers as prescribed by Dr. Tomer and then I would get this error page for the Internet. It didn't happen every time so that's why it was odd although as I was approaching 25, it started happening every new MARC record so I was becoming extremely frustrated and upset. I'm worried I missed or left out something, although I listened to the video a couple of times so I don't think I could have.

Koha seems like a really neat thing, my problem is outside of doing the assignments (not just for this class but all of them), I really don't have time to go back and further explore on my own. This semester is just so overwhelming and busy so it's a bit disheartnening in that aspect.

All for now in week 8-scary :(

  1. I agree with you on the time thing, there's just so little of it. Once we move on, I have to too!
